Sainsbury's One-Year Fixed Rate savings bond issued

The Sainsbury's one-year fixed rate savings bond has been launched and is available to all customers immediately.

With a rate of 4.9 per cent guaranteed gross return fixed, investors can place any amount of at least £3,000 in the account.

Pauline White, savings manager at Sainsbury's Bank, said: "Fixed rate savings bonds offer some of the most attractive savings rates available."

She went on to say that it is important for customers to shop around before deciding on a product.

The Sainsbury's one-year fixed-rate savings bond is available on a limited edition basis and once the fund's limit is reached it will no longer be available.

It will mature on March 13th 2007, on which date interest will be paid out.
