Rates will be applied on a yearly basis and the new interest level equates to an annual percentage rate (APR) of 6.1 per cent.
The minimum and maximum interest rates on the Norwich Union Index-linked Lifetime Mortgage have also been reduced to 4.39 and 9.61 per cent respectively.
Action has also been taken to align the minimum borrowing requirements of the index-linked deal with those of the Norwich Union Fixed-Rate Lifetime Mortgage.
The minimum initial loan on the offer has been reduced from £25,001 to £15,000 and minimum additional borrowing has also been decreased from £25,001 to £5,000.
Darren Carter, director of sales and marketing at Norwich Union Personal Finance, said: "We are constantly reviewing our funding and rates and are pleased to be able to take this opportunity to offer consumers these new lower rates on both our lifetime mortgages."
Norwich Union claims to be the leading equity release provider in the sector with a market share of 34 per cent.
