Moneyfacts: Halifax Four-Year ISA offers best returns

A survey published by Moneyfacts has reported that a Halifax Four-Year ISA bond offered the best returns in this tax year, of £3,171 on an investment of £3,000.

Overall 158 mini cash ISAs were surveyed and the average return offered was £3,141 – an increase from the previous year's level of £3,137.

Mutual building societies dominated the higher places on the list, with ISAs offered by these companies occupying 12 of the top 20 positions.

Among the variable rate savings accounts offered, a deal available with National Counties BS was highest in the list with a return of £3,160.

Rachel Thrussell, head of savings at Moneyfacts, said: "Whilst many consumers make full use of their annual tax-free savings limit, this latest Moneyfacts survey shows that, by shopping around, they can make their return even more worthwhile."

While the survey described the Halifax Four-Year ISA as offering the best returns, it also advised that customers interested in taking up deals of this kind act fast, as the introductory rates with which they are launched are often temporary and will be lowered after a certain amount of time.
