Alliance & Leicester Business Centre Current Account unveiled

An Alliance & Leicester Business Centre Current Account has been launched today and claims to offer the most competitive published tariff in the market.

The bank claims that many account providers do not publish their tariffs in the business market and that it is offering an element of "transparency" with its new product.

A gross interest rate of up to 2.5 per cent is available with the offer, this is equal to the Bank of Scotland's rate but higher than the two per cent set on the LloydsTSB Business Extra account and the Allied Irish Bank rate of up to 1.8 per cent.

There is a turnover parameter of £1 million or over per year on the Alliance & Leicester Business Centre Current Account, compared to the £500,000 and above with the Allied Irish Bank and the maximum level of £2 million available with LloydsTSB.

Steve Jennings, director of business banking for the company, said: "Businesses are waking up to the fact that not all current accounts are the same. Our market leading Business Centre Current Account provides real value and we would encourage business owners to review their finances."

The account has a charge of 20p per deposit in the account, as well as additional fees of 20p for every £100 deposit made in cash and 15p for every cheque paid in.
