R&SA Care claims process launched

Insurer Royal & Sun Alliance (R&SA) has today introduced the R&SA Care claims process, which is intended to improve the practice of claiming on insurance for bodily injuries for people who have had accidents in cars or in the workplace.

The company claims that it could both help victims to recover quicker and reduce insurance premiums in the long run.

According to R&SA the average personal injury claim takes three years to settle and almost 40p in every £1 of compensation paid is lost to various expenses, such as legal costs. This amounts to £2 billion in costs per year.

The R&SA Care claims process plans to take three steps to make the practice of claiming insurance payments easier.

It intends to respond quickly to any bodily injury claims, begin rehabilitation immediately, arranging for a diagnostic assessment and securing the right kind of treatment, and consequently agree on appropriate compensation.

"By getting involved in claims early and delivering a package of care services to accident victims, R&SA Care aims to accelerate the injured person's recovery and reduce the overall costs of the claim," said Steve Maddock, technical claims director at R&SA.

The company also claims that the R&SA Care claims process will be beneficial for all three parties involved – the injured party, the employer and the insurer.

It will assist injured parties' recovery, help businesses reduce the length of time employees are absent for as they recuperate and make the process of issuing claims to customers quicker and cheaper for insurers, R&SA claims.

The scheme will initially run for eight months, during which time the company expects to handle around 5,000 bodily injury claims.
