The Britannia Lifetime Tracker mortgage is currently available to borrowers, with a current interest rate of 4.9 per cent, which will track at 0.4 per cent above the Bank of England base rate for the term of the deal.

A five per cent deposit is necessary to take up the offer, which has an overall cost for comparison of 5.1 per cent annual rate.

Fixed-rate mortgages are also available for two, three and five-year terms, with initial interest rates of 4.34, 4.49 and 4.89 respectively.

These offers have administration fees of £100, arrangement charges of £399, both of which are payable on application, and early repayment charges (ERCs) of two, three and six per cent in the first years of the respective packages.

The Britannia Lifetime Tracker mortgage does not have ERCs but has arrangement and administration fees equivalent to those on the fixed-rate products.
