An Alliance & Leicester Two-Year Base Rate Tracker mortgage is currently on the market, with an initial rate of 4.44 per cent, which is variable for two years.

The interest level on this account will then revert to the Bank of England base rate plus 0.99 per cent for the remaining term of the mortgage – this is currently 5.49 per cent.
