New Leeds Two-Year Fixed-Rate mortgage launched

A new Leeds Two-Year Fixed-Rate mortgage has been introduced today at a rate of 4.99 per cent and unlimited capital repayments are allowed at any time without penalty.

There are no higher lending charges up to 90 per cent loan-to-value (LTV) and the mortgage is fully portable, allowing customers to move within the opening two years and take their deal with them.

A fee-free version of the Leeds Two-Year Fixed-Rate mortgage is also available with a rate of 5.59 per cent and no completion fee – which is £595 on the regular option.

Stuart Fearn, product development manager at Leeds, said that the new offer comes at a time of increasing popularity for fixed-rate offers.

The Council of Mortgage Lenders has recently reported that fixed-rate products accounted for around 60 per cent of home loans in 2005, Mr Fearn stated.

"With market rates also increasing, there is growing expectation that the next base rate change may result in an increase and many more customers may look to lock in good value," he added.

The Leeds Two-Year Fixed-Rate mortgage is available up to 95 per cent LTV and will have its rate of 4.99 per cent fixed until July 31st 2008.
