American Express Insurance Services Card Defence facility introduced

An American Express Insurance Services Card Defence facility has been launched today, which claims to offer an "easy way" to protect against the problems that can ensue when a customer loses their card, passport or documents.

A person loses their passport, driving licence, credit card, house or car keys every 24 seconds, according to the financial services provider.

The American Express Insurance Services Card Defence facility offers an online storage service in which customers can keep details of their important documentation.

Items such as driving licences and passports can be scanned into a computer, stored online and accessed at any time, from anywhere in the world through a password.

Joanne Field, marketing manager for American Express Insurance Services, said: "Card Defence is a convenient and modern way of protecting important documents in the event of theft or loss.

"Even if you simply misplace a document – everything is stored securely and released at the touch of a button."

The American Express Insurance Services Card Defence facility is available from £20 per year and covers all permanent residents of the covered household.
