Skipton Mini Cash Isas doing their bit for charity

The NSPCC and Children 1st charities have issued a statement today regarding the amount of money that has been raised through Skipton Mini Cash Isas.

Some £119,997 was raised for the NSPCC and £11,293 for its Scottish sister charity Children 1st through the take up of Skipton Mini Cash Isas last year, bringing the total amount raised to £1.2 million since 1997.

Such a substantial amount could be used to pay running costs for Family Support Services for four years, the charities state.

The donations are based on Skipton customers agreeing to forgo 0.5 per cent of their annual interest in order to help the charity's causes.

"We are extremely grateful for Skipton's magnificent contribution," said Mary Marsh, director and chief executive of the NSPCC.

"These funds will enable us to carry out our work on behalf of many thousands of vulnerable children in the UK."

John Goodfellow, chief executive of Skipton, said that the company was "delighted" at the generosity of the investors in the Skipton Mini Cash Isas, encouraging more people to open up accounts in this tax year and carry on donating to the charities.
