First direct commission and fee-free online travel money extended

It was announced today that the first direct commission and fee-free online travel money has been extended until the end of January 2007.

First direct is also offering next working day home delivery for its foreign cash and travelers cheques.

Research by first direct suggests that shopping around could save Brits as much as £1.2 billion, enough to send 3.9 million people or everyone in Merseyside, Birmingham and Essex on an Egyptian holiday.

According to the research, if people took more time to find a better deal when exchanging their money into foreign currency, they could make significant savings.

Kam Madahar, first direct's head of travel money, said: "With a little shopping around, it's very easy for holidaymakers to save on their holiday money."

Low-cost airlines are making flights abroad cheaper but first direct hope their offer extension will mean travelers can make further savings when traveling abroad.
