Ryanair Motor Insurance "must be competitive"

Ryanair Motor Insurance needs to be competitive, according to insuresupermarket.com, a price comparison website.

The move into the travel insurance industry seemed to make sense for the low-cost airline, but the creation of Ryanair Motor Insurance seems a less obvious step and this has prompted insuresupermarket.com to comment on the new product.

Ryanair's new product, the website suggests, is evidence of the company attempting to "flex its brand muscle further".

Competition in the industry is fierce and Ryanair Motor Insurance needs to offer its customers a good deal, says the website, if the venture is to achieve the sort of success it has seen in other business areas.

insuresupermarket.com said: "Ryanair does not offer particularly cheap policies for younger drivers, but for someone in their thirties, the cover is modestly priced. With its reputation for value for money, you might expect a high degree of competitiveness."

In 1985 Ryanair became the first European low-cost airline and is still the largest.
