Alliance & Leicester Savings Account research shows Brits are a bargain nation

As many as 27.4 million people in the UK say they can't resist a bargain, according to a new survey the results of which were released today by Alliance & Leicester Savings Accounts.

Despite these figures suggesting Brits are splashing out Alliance & Leicester Savings Account research also found that 13.7 million people said they couldn't afford to save.

Brits are thought to be succumbing to temptation and buying more than ever.

The research also found that a quarter of those surveyed bought things which they don't need and bought simply because they thought they were getting a good deal.

Mike Woodward, manager of the Alliance & Leicester Savings Account, said: "While it is great for consumers to have the choice to buy more for less, our research has found that we're just buying more, instead of buying the same amount as we did before and saving money."

Alliance & Leicester Savings Accounts is one of a number of products available from the company which also offers personal loans and credit cards.
