swiftcover.com Car Insurance reveals drivers rage at speed cameras

Only one in 20 people think that road safety money is best spent on speed cameras, according to research revealed today by swiftcover.com Car Insurance.

Around £114 million is raised through speed cameras each year in the UK and the swiftcover.com Car Insurance survey suggests drivers feel the money is being wasted.

Speed cameras were found to be far from the nation's favourite method of reducing speeds on roads around the country, with only one in eight saying they thought they were the safest speeding prevention method available.

Andrew Blowers, chief executive of swiftcover.com Car Insurance said: "It is clear from our research that speed cameras have emerged as the scourge of the 21st century motorist."

"People are fed up with the imposition of speed cameras on every corner but, more importantly, believe that they are failing to fulfil their key objective of improving road safety", he added.

swiftcover.com Car Insurance is only available online and customers can get an instant online car insurance quote.
