HSBC Passport Account for UK new arrivals launched

A new HSBC Passport Account has been launched to help people arriving in the UK to settle in more easily.

Around 600,000 people arrive in the UK each year to live and to work and research for the HSBC Passport Account found that many migrants considered having a bank account as the most important aspect of settling into a new country.

The HSBC Passport Account package includes a maestro international debit card, access to internet banking and an online application process so that migrants can apply for the account before their arrival in the UK.

Joe Garner, head of UK personal financial services at HSBC, commented: "It is the sort of service that is becoming increasingly important as more and more people seek to live and work overseas."

"As the world's local bank, HSBC is proud to be the first bank to offer a service of this kind in the UK," he added.

HSBC offers a range of current accounts including student, graduate and under-18 services.
