New Star Tri-Star Unit Trust fund has its first day of trading

A new trust fund designed to bring income and capital growth to customer investments has had its first day of trading today.

With the New Star Tri-Star Unit Trust fund, money is invested in UK equities, bonds and UK commercial property.

The diversity of the portfolio is seen as an asset at a time when market volatility is causing concern about how to enhance potential returns on investments.

Stephen Whittaker, who manages the UK equity component of the New Star Tri-Star Unit Trust, commented: "The recent market setback, which virtually cancelled out the gains made earlier in the year, represents an excellent buying opportunity for longer-term investors and further market progress can be expected over the remainder of the year."

New star asset management was founded in 2000 and the company attributes its success to "employing talented and experienced people across all our activities".
