first direct Insurance does its bit for charity

For every insurance policy opened with first direct £10, will go straight to charity, the company has announced.

The new initiative from the first direct Insurance could mean significant funding for two of Britain's most well known charities.

For every life insurance policy sold, £10 will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care and every time a customer agrees to take up a home insurance policy with first direct the company will donate £10 to Shelter.

Chris Pilling, chief executive of first direct, said: "Our customers already enjoy good value life and home insurance cover, but we wanted to go the extra mile and acknowledge and help the incredible work done by both Marie Curie and Shelter."

A division of HSBC Bank and known for being the UK's most recommended bank, first direct also offers loans, credit cards and mortgage products.
