Barclaycard Credit Card research highlights foreign fraud hotspots

Turkey is the country where card users are most likely to find themselves the victim of fraud, according to Barclaycard Credit Card research.

France, Spain and the USA were listed not far behind in the recently released figures on fraud hotspots and these four countries accounted for over half of all foreign fraud cases, the statistics have revealed.

Among a list of advice designed to help avoid such incidents as Brits head for their favourite holiday destinations is to only book online using trusted websites.

Barclaycard also suggests that card users should not let their card out of their sight when making payments abroad.

Martin Warwick, head of Barclaycard fraud operations, commented: "I'm not surprised to see destinations popular with British holiday-makers at the top of the list – more tourists mean more cards that can be lost or stolen."

According to bank safe online, UK fraud losses amounted to £12 million.
