More Than Home Insurance issues crime risk warning

The nature of the crime risk in the UK has changed in recent years, according to More Than Home Insurance.

Recent figures from the Home Office support the insurance company's case as reported burglaries were down while street crime has been on the rise.

More Than's own research has found that rather than stealing TVs or videos, as was common five years ago, criminals are now more likely to steal things like jewellery, cash or handbags.

According to the More Than study, identity theft is now the fastest growing crime in Britain.

Craig Allen, head of More Than Home Insurance, said: "Increased household security has made an impact on the opportunist thief, as has the falling price of consumer goods like videos and DVD players."

As well as home insurance More Than offers pet, car and life insurance.
