RBS Offset Mortgage research shows homeowner moving habits

UK homeowners move house an average of 2.6 times once their first property has been purchased, research for the RBS Offset Mortgage has discovered.

The study also found that in Greater London trends were different to other parts of the country, many homeowners in the London area tend not to move house at all once their first home has been bought.

At the risk of wasting time and money, many UK homeowners change their mortgage provider at the same time as moving house, the study found.

Karen Snodgrass, head of the RBS Offset Mortgage, commented: "The stress of finding and purchasing a new home is more than enough for anyone, without the added concern of having to find a new mortgage lender and spend valuable time and money on renegotiating the mortgage for your new property."

RBS has a range of mortgage products as well as savings, investment and insurance products.
