More Than Car Insurance DriveTime aims to young driver death toll

The fact that young drivers are particularly at risk from road accidents has led to the introduction of the new More Than Insurance DriveTime policy.

Drivers between the age of 18 and 25 could save an average of £332 on their car insurance if they regularly choose not to drive their cars between the hours of 23:00BST and 06:00BST.

Using telematic technology, More Than will be informed when a policy holder is on the road and they will be encouraged not to drive during the night through insurance fee adjustments.

Accidents are statistically more likely to occur during the night and More Than hopes that accident rates will be reduced because of the potential for young drivers to reduce their annual car insurance fees by up to 40 per cent.

Bryan Turner, head of DriveTime at More Than, said: "Young drivers have often found it difficult to get affordable insurance cover as many companies categorise them all as being high risk.

"We recognised that not all young drivers are the same and wanted to come up with a way to reward safer young motorists with cheaper premiums."

More Than was founded in 2001 and now employs thousands of people around the UK.
