American Express Insurance offers protection for travel documents

A new service which promises to increase security levels on important travel documentation has been launched by American Express Insurance.

Research by the company has revealed that 31 per cent of reported incidents of passports being lost or stolen happen between June and August.

The card defence system has been introduced in an attempt to reassure holidaymakers by providing a secure online security service for vital documents, which are scanned and stored and important information can then be accessed from anywhere in the world.

Additionally, credit, debit and loyalty cards can be cancelled by making a single phone call to American Express, in the event of loss or theft.

Joanne Field, marketing manager at American Express Insurance services, said: "Online document storage can help save valuable time and simplify the whole process of organising a replacement passport."

American Express operates in over 130 countries worldwide and runs a number of fraud prevention initiatives.
