AA Travel Insurance issues advice for those caught up in the security alert

Those caught up in the current security alerts affecting areas of the UK should stay calm and follow instructions from security staff and police, according to AA Travel Insurance.

People who are unsure about the level of cover their insurance policy provides them should phone their supplier, but AA Travel Insurance warns that those who choose not to travel will not be covered.

In general, policies stipulate that valuables should be keep on board on an aircraft, however, currently passengers are being instructed to pack such items in their baggage.

AA Travel Insurance reassures its customers that cover of valuables is provided under these circumstances, but advises: "Check with your insurer that under these circumstances your insurer will still cover your personal valuables, even if they are in the aircraft hold."

Customers who purchase an AA Travel Insurance policy online can make a ten per cent saving.
