House prices still to peak, says John Charcol Mortgage expert

The most recent residential property report from the land Registry revealed that the average house price in England and Wales now stands at £199,184, but one John Charcol Mortgage expert has predicted that prices will continue to rise.

Figures from the Land Registry report showed that house prices have increased by 7.7 per cent in the last twelve months compared to 5.43 per cent for the same period in the previous year.

This trend is expected to continue and Ray Boulger, senior technical manager at John Charcol, suggests that consumers can be "very confident" that the next house pricing figures will show a further increase.

"My best guess is at the end of the year the percentage growth in the housing market over the calendar 2006 will be around about five per cent," he added.

John Charcol was established in 1999 and offers mortgage advice to its customers around the country.
