AmEx: Parents should insure travelling teens

The insurance provider claims that August and September are the key sales periods for gap policies bought by parents for their teenagers.
"Like any other element of gap travel, insurance should be researched and planned as terms and conditions can vary widely," comments Joanne Field, marketing manager for American Express Insurance Services.
"Parents want the peace of mind that a global insurer such as American Express can offer - not only the 24 world-wide emergency assistance helpline, but the reassurance that, with 1,700 travel service offices across the globe, there are people on the ground to help if necessary."
American Express is also offering some top tips for choosing gap travel insurance.
These include checking that you are covered for all the destinations you are visiting and making sure that if you plan to work that your policy covers you.
Annual policies and extended travel policies also differ in length so it is worth making sure you buy the right one.
