Suicide bombers strike in Iraq

HILLA - A military base in the Iraqi town of Hilla has become the latest target for suicide bombers opposed to the presence of coalition forces.

Conflicting reports suggest that up to four Iraqis may have been killed with a number of Polish troops left injured.

The attack took place at 7:15 local time at Camp Babylon, which is used by both Iraqi and coalition forces.

A spokesman for the Polish army told the Reuters news agency that two vehicles were involved.

The incident follows two larger attacks last week at an army recruitment centre in Baghdad and a police station south of the capital.

The US government has remained adamant that the handover of power, scheduled for the end of June, will not be derailed by these recent bombings.

Meanwhile, the US military has released a wanted list of 32 people suspected of organising attacks against coalition and Iraqi targets.
