'Use Lloyds TSB Premium American Express card wisely'

Consumers have been urged to use the new Lloyds TSB Premium American Express card "wisely".

Robert Kenley, head of credit cards at price comparison website Moneysupermarket, says the credit card could be appealing to people who are convinced they will make use of all the associated benefits.

However, he says that the Lloyds TSB Premium American Express card is not a "fully-fledged prestige card", which explains the lower credit card fees it charges.

Mr Kenley explains that the Lloyds TSB Premium American Express card is a "hybrid" credit card.

"Combined, these benefits are worth the fee, but only if customers use their card wisely, gaining loyalty points wherever possible and making full use of all the extras," he says.

"Loyalty credit cards are a good way to get something back for your spending, but in most cases people could be better off with a straight cashback card instead," Mr Kenley adds.

The monthly fee on the Lloyds TSB Premium American Express card is £4.95 and this includes various special offers and benefits.
