Halifax home improvement website offers DIY tips

Halifax has launched a new home improvement website which provides information to DIY enthusiasts to help them plan their projects more effectively and efficiently.

The Halifax home improvement website covers such things as preparation and planning, getting the right builders, tools and planning permissions and managing budgets.

Halifax research shows that annual spending on DIY in the UK has increased by 76 per cent from £6.4 billion to £11.3 billon over the past ten years.

This is double the amount spent on trades and services and reflects the increased number of people now carrying out their own DIY projects.

With this in mind, the Halifax home improvement website aims to provide DIYers with hints, tips and expert advice on how to make their projects a success.

Mark Heaton, head of mortgages at Halifax, said: "Spending on DIY continues to increase and more people are looking to carry out the work themselves rather than pay a tradesman."

He adds that the Halifax home improvement website, called homeimprovementadvice.co.uk, aims to "help prospective DIYers consider all aspects of their project before undertaking any work".
