Lloyds TSB Student Account 'eases financial pressure'

The Lloyds TSB Student Account could provide students with a bit of leeway when they embark on their university studies.

A survey undertaken by Lloyds TSB Student Banking found that 86 per cent of those considering becoming freshers, put the onus on studying hard rather than partying or protesting.

Allied to this, the importance of finances was underlined by the fact that 66 per cent of prospective students would not consider purchasing second hand clothes while 78 per cent believed hi-tech gadgets were indispensable items for students.

Marcus Banks, head of student banking at Lloyds TSB, remarked: "Students of the noughties don’t really bear much resemblance to students of the seventies either in terms of attitude or lifestyle."

"Increasing financial pressure means that students are much more serious about their university career and don’t want to waste their investment," he added.

The Lloyds TSB Student Account offers a £1,500 interest-free overdraft, available over three years, and a free iPod shuffle subject to terms and conditions.

Also available with the Lloyds TSB Student Account is a larger overdraft of £2,000 for students continuing studies beyond their third year and free weekly balance updates sent via text message.
