One million use Capita ID theft protection service

A deal between Capita Insurance Services and Retired Insurance Advisory Service (RIAS) is to result in more than 800,000 people receiving the Capita identity theft recovery service.

Capita therefore provides ID theft protection to around one million people in the UK and its service makes sure that customers' documentation is in order and efficient steps for recovery are put in place, should ID fraud take place.

Also, the Capita identity theft recovery service has been designed to effectively interact with the UK's credit reference agencies to make sure an individual's credit data is complete.

Max Pell, managing director at Capita Legal Services, said: "Capita's unique identity theft recovery service is designed to help by providing insurers and other third parties with a low-cost, high value, bespoke service to offer to their customers."

Mr Pell added that a "large resource" had been invested into the development of a customer-friendly solution for victims of ID theft.

Halifax Legal Services and Home & Legacy are two of the companies currently using the Capita ID theft protection service.

An exercise undertaken by the Home Office Identity Fraud Steering Committee estimates the total cost of identity fraud to the UK economy to be £1.7 billion.
