Yorkshire mortgages offer Christmas bonus

Borrowers who move their mortgage before Christmas day will be rewarded by the Yorkshire Building Society with a new range of fixed-rate mortgages as well as a Christmas bonus.

The Yorkshire Building Society two and three-year fixed-rate mortgages have been launched, offering rates of 4.74 per cent and 4.89 per cent respectively.

A Christmas bonus of £200 cashback, a valuation fees refund and a free re-mortgage legal service will be available for all customers switching mortgages before December 25th 2006 and who take out a two or three-year fixed-rate mortgage with the building society.

Yorkshire's product development manager David Heshon stated: "With much speculation about interest rates rising before the year end and possibly again during 2007 we have seen an increase in the popularity of fixed rate mortgages indicating that security of payments is a priority for today's homeowners."

He added that it is "likely" customers will take advantage of the deal in the build up to Christmas due to the product's improved rates and the "cash boost towards the cost of Christmas".

The Yorkshire Building Society has won the 'lender of the year' award for 2005 and 2006 with Mortgage Magazine. It is the only lender to win the award twice.
