Leeds two-year fixed-rate postal bond introduced

The Leeds two-year fixed-rate postal bond has been launched and offers customers a market-leading interest rate.

An annual interest rate of 5.61 per cent AER is available on the bond until January 31st 2009. Alternatively, a monthly interest rate of 5.49 per cent is offered for customers wanting a regular income.

A minimum investment of £100 is required on the Leeds two-year fixed-rate postal bond.

Kim Rebecchi, general manager of sales at Leeds Building Society said: "This straightforward postal bond offers customers the best two-year fixed-rate available. The best buy guaranteed AER rate of 5.61 per cent combined with emergency access to funds at any time, subject to the loss of 90 days interest, cannot be found anywhere else in the market."

Ms Rebecchi went on to state that the bond is ideal for customers wanting to receive a "competitive return" on their money and easy access to their funds.

She also mentioned that the new bond takes its place in a bond portfolio that includes the Postal Access Bond, which offers customers a rate of 5.25 per cent fixed until January 31st 2008.

The Leeds Building Society has won the Mortgage Magazine's Best Building Society award for 2006.
