Swiftcover.com pet insurance launched

The company has added the pet insurance to its website and the policy can be only be purchased online, in keeping with swiftcover.com's status as the UK's first 100 per cent online provider of car insurance.
Research by Mintel has shown that though £3.5 billion is spent per year by UK pet owners on their animals, only one in seven has a pet insurance policy to cover them in the event of unforeseen medical bills.
Andrew Blowers, chief executive officer of swiftcover.com said: "We're a nation that's renowned for our love of our pets and having adequate cover in place to protect against any unforeseen circumstances is absolutely vital for responsible pet owners."
"However, the rising annual costs of looking after a pet can deter many people from taking out pet insurance. Swiftcover.com's new pet cover premiums should help drive down these costs for pet owners."
The insurance provider has teamed up with Thornside, a leading pet insurance provider, to offer its pet insurance policy and the policies are underwritten by AXA.
