Britannia one-year fixed-rate bond launched

Britannia Building Society has introduced a new one-year fixed-rate bond and is to launch another bond on November 7th.

In a re-jig of its bond range, the Britannia one-year fixed-rate bond is available with an interest rate of 5.45 per cent, while the two-year fixed-rate bond to be launched next week has a rate of 5.65 per cent.

Both of the interest rates offered by the building society are above the current Bank of England base rate of 4.75 per cent and have been described as "competitive" by Tim Franklin, managing director of member business at Britannia.

He stated: "Both bonds are offering competitive rates which give savers the peace of mind that they will get a great return on their investment."

Britannia's membership reward scheme is available to customers taking out the bonds, which enables them to benefit from sharing the building society's profits.

The Britannia one-year fixed-rate bond requires a minimum investment of £1,000 and customers are unable to make any withdrawals during the fixed-term of the bond.
