3V prepaid voucher card introduced

The 3V pay-as-you-go visa voucher has been launched in the UK in a bid to attract customers who are wary of shopping online.

Some people are put off purchasing goods on the internet for fear of falling victim to fraud but the new 3V prepaid voucher card enables customers to purchase cards between the value of £20 and £200.

The vouchers cost £3.50 and are available to anyone in the UK over the age of 16. They will be available from participating Payzone shops and will replace the use of credit and debit cards for purchasing online.

Research carried out by 3V has highlighted that almost a fifth of the adult population in the UK refuses to shop online even though they would like to. This is because of either not having a bank card or out of fear that their card details will not be secure.

A pilot scheme has already been introduced in Ireland, with 60,000 people purchasing 3V prepay visa vouchers since October 2005.

3V prepaid voucher cards are disposable and customers can make as many purchases with them as they wish, so long as there is sufficient funds on the card.
