Women want to date a man who knows his interest rates

Modern woman has got her priorities straight when it comes to looking for a partner – savers are in higher demand than men who like to flash the cash around, according to new research by Yorkshire Building Society.

Frugal men have been found to be highly desirable with over half of the women surveyed and 43 per cent would express an interest in a man who they knew had savings.

Debt has been found to be a big turn-off for women looking for a mate and nearly two thirds (60 per cent) said that when looking for a long-term partner, no debt was preferable.

Tanya Jackson, media relations manager at Yorkshire Building Society, remarked: "It seems money really can buy you love as today's singles search for a saving-smart superhero to settle down with. We're more likely to be swept off our feet with a thoughtful gift than a flashy gesture."

Also, the Yorkshire Building Society's research discovered that women have more regard for small, considerate gifts than expensive, lavish ones with only three per cent opting for the latter.

For savers, Yorkshire Building Society offers a range of tax-free savings accounts such as the 30 Day Notice ISA and the Fixed-Rate Anniversary ISA.
