Leeds Building Society three-year fixed-rate Isa and Toisa's launched

For customers wishing to have a savings option that offers the flexibility of being able to access funds without suffering a penalty, the new Leeds Building Society three-year fixed-rate Isa and Toisas (Tessa-only individual savings accounts) could be ideal.

Both of the savings accounts provide an interest rate of 5.2 per cent, with a minimum investment of just £1 and a one-time opportunity to access half of the funds at the convenience of the individual for free – subsequent withdrawals are subject to 180 days' notice.

The rate is applicable on both the Leeds Building Society three-year fixed-rate Isa and Toisa until December 31st 2009 and the maximum allocation for the Isa per year is £3,000, whereas the Toisa can have balances up to £13,000, including interest.

Karen Wint, head of marketing and PR, remarked: "The ability to secure an excellent rate for a set period is something that many customers with tax free savings may wish to do, particularly as they can combine this with the ability to access the funds easily in an emergency or to reassess their investment options in the future."

Chancellor Gordon Brown announced in the government's pre-Budget report that Isas are to become a permanent fixture within the investment market, available after the initial deadline of 2010.
