Christmas budget warning for generous men

According to a survey by the financial comparison site The Motley Fool, men are much more generous than women when it comes to buying Christmas gifts for their loved ones.
Indeed the average male is set to spend £161 on presents for their wives and girlfriends this Christmas, while over half (57 per cent) of women said they plan to spend less than £100 on their men.
And with new figures from Deloitte showing that Britons are likely to spend more this Christmas than any other Christmas in the past 12 years, generous men could need some finance advice.
David Kuo, head of personal finance at The Motley Fool, says: "Christmas can be an expensive time of year, but don't let love cloud your financial judgment."
He says men should organise their spending, make a budget and stick to it, no matter how tempting it is to go over in order to buy the perfect gift.
And he adds that men should take a leaf out of women's books and spend more time browsing in order to get the cheapest deals on the things they want to buy.
