Crazy claims described by AA Insurance

The most bizarre insurance claims received by AA insurance have been declared with badgers and bollards accounting for the weirdest.

Throughout this year, AA Insurance has had around 180,000 car insurance claims and after reviewing them in their entirety, the insurer found that one of the strangest involved a woman who alleged that "a car bollard ran into [her]".

Rather than the more usual instances of theft and car crashes, AA Insurance discovered that a "confused badger" was the cause of a smash up one night when a woman swerved out of the way of the creature only to clatter into an oncoming vehicle.

Kevin Sinclair, managing director of AA Insurance, said: "We're used to receiving conventional claims for car damage or handbag theft but it's always interesting to hear the more unusual claims people make. It just goes to show, you need to ensure you're covered for all eventualities, however far-fetched they might seem."

Pets were at fault for over 150 claims this year it was found and in another bizarre claim, a woman said that her teeth mysteriously disappeared in the night from her nightstand.

There is currently up to a 12.5 per cent discount off AA car insurance if it is purchased online and quotes can be given out on the internet.
