Financial resolutions top of 2007 list

Financial resolutions are likely to be set by a third of Brits as they plan to make 2007 more profitable, according to research commissioned by F&C Asset Management.

The survey also highlighted growing concerns that the government is not doing enough to encourage more people to save and many are hoping that the current limit on Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs) will rise to £10,000 at the next Budget.

A total of 44 per cent of Brits are planning to make New Year's resolutions and 79 per cent of those are expecting them to be finance-related in order to ensure they boost their savings over the next 12 months.

Jason Hollands, director and head of communications at F&C Asset Management, explained: "Financial matters clearly feature high on many people's radars and the public feel the government needs to do more to encourage them to save.

"However, the good news for those pessimists who doubt their ability to stick to their resolutions beyond the first few months of the year is that some of the most important financial deadlines of 2007 do in fact fall within the first few months, so there is no need to wait until the Budget."
