RBS mobile bank set for launch

Beginning next month, the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) mobile bank service will be launched in both north and west Yorkshire as well as in Wales.

Those communities who do not have a local branch will be able to take advantage of mobile banking to carry out routine transactions and RBS has declared that two more vans have been added to its existing fleet of 14 vehicles.

Places in Yorkshire that will definitely benefit from the RBS mobile bank service are Wetherby, Filey, Pickering, Hipswell, Tadcaster, Sowerby and Whitby.

"In addition to nearly 650 branches, we will be running a total of sixteen mobile banks and a Flying Bank in Scotland, making life easier for thousands of customers since our first mobile bank was launched in 1946," said Ewen Munro, managing director of RBS retail.

He added: "At a time when some organisations are closing branches, we firmly believe that our branch network, and services such as the mobile bank, remain very important for the communities they serve."

Operating from Llandudno, RBS mobile banking in Wales will also begin next month and is currently awaiting the final approval for its timetable and route.
