Alliance & Leicester Post Office system launched

The Alliance & Leicester Post Office system has been created by the bank to provide a means for business customers to receive a more efficient service.

Intended to be rolled out across the Post Office's 14,300 UK branches, the new system is designed to offer customers enhanced security on their accounts due to paper stationary being fazed out.

A pin protected withdrawal card service will replace the traditional withdrawal slips and cheque format so that the amount of paper used during a transaction will decrease by around 50 per cent.

Steve Jennings, director of business banking at Alliance & Leicester, stated: "Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank initially introduced the automated system for small business customers making deposits.

"Following the success of this pilot we have taken the decision to extend the automated system to other banking services and to incorporate all customers."

Alliance & Leicester offers its business customers the opportunity to bank online so that direct debits can be set up, international payments can be made and money can be moved between accounts, among other things.
