Lloyds TSB opens store for Poles

Lloyds TSB has opened the doors to a new superstore bank in Manchester today, offering customers who have only just moved to the UK from Poland the opportunity to enjoy tailored banking services.

The new store has been set up at St Mary's Gate, central Manchester and is specifically designed to cater for the city's Polish community which is said to be growing "rapidly".

Fluent Polish speakers will man the desks at the new bank and Lloyds TSB literature will be provided in the language as well to ensure an easier transition to British banking for the immigrants.

Gerrard Schmid, Lloyds TSB transaction banking director, explained: "Our new international superstore will really help to take the fear factor out of opening a bank account for customers new to the UK.

"There is a clear demand for a tailored banking service and to meet this demand we have been adapting our procedures, in particular we have focused on making the account opening process as straightforward as possible for all our customers."

The move by Lloyds TSB, who plan on converting a number of UK branches into international superstores, is intended to address the fact that over 400,000 people from the EU have entered Britain in the past two years, including almost 265,000 Poles.
