APR cut on Barclaycard deals

Barclaycard has announced a reduction in the APR charged on some of its credit cards.

From today, the interest rate on both the Barclaycard Premiership and Barclaycard Charity card has been reduced by three per cent.

Borrowers will now have an APR of 14.9 per cent on these Barclaycard products.

Barclaycard Premiership will still have its zero per cent balance transfer deal available, while Barclaycard Charity holders can still benefit from six months of interest-free balance transfers and purchases.

There are various added extras with both these Barclaycard offers, with sporty deals and discounts available for those with Premiership cards while Barclaycard Charity holders can use their plastic to benefit various good causes.

"We're committed to offering our customers value for money and these new lower rates mean customers can get an even better deal if they're looking for a football credit card or a charity credit card," said Barclaycard's managing director of UK cards, Amer Sajed.

The lowest APR currently available from Barclaycard is on its Simplicity Credit Card. Over-21s with an excellent credit record qualify for a variable interest rate of 6.8 per cent.
