Nationwide Isa 'market leader'

The Nationwide Isa has been voted the most competitive deal on the market by the senior editor of personal financial service website moneyextra.com.

According to Robin Amlot, the question of what represents the best cash Isa is predicated on the interest that a consumer can earn.

"As far as I can see the best one at the moment – the best generally available one – would be Nationwide.

"This is 5.85 per cent but there is a 12-month notice period on that," he said of the Nationwide Isa.

Mr Amlot's comments follow a recent survey carried out by ICM on behalf of Intelligent Finance showing that seven per cent of consumers who have taken out an Isa in the last year are thinking of changing provider.

In 2004, just two per cent of respondents were mooting a similar change.
