Defaqto travel insurance database to help consumers

Consumers are set to benefit from today's launch of a Defaqto travel insurance database – a move which will hopefully make it easier for consumers to pick up the best policies available.

The independent financial data collection and research company's new table incorporates 155 policies from 589 primary and 19 "white-label" providers.

It also includes comprehensive information on policy features, product benefits and policy excesses for short-term or long-term stays in Europe, USA, Australia and New Zealand.

Brian Brown, head of insight at Defaqto, was particularly complimentary about how the new database would enable brokers to provide more information to clients wishing to take extended trips.

"Before we produced this database, it was extremely difficult to compare extended trip policies for cover and price, but now this can be done with just a few keystrokes," he added.
