Abbey Isa a good choice for long-term saving

Abbey has responded to a desire among consumers to save more effectively by launching a new super Isa.

Abbey's cash mini-Isa is offering customers a highly competitive rate of eight per cent until May 1st 2008 if they invest an equal amount of money in one of the group's guaranteed growth plans.

After the eight per cent interest rate expires, Abbey's Isa will revert to the group's direct Isa rate, which is currently 5.75 per cent.

Those customers who do not want their savings to be placed in a long-term growth plan may simply take on Abbey's direct Isa.

Reza Attar-Zadeh, head of savings and investments at Abbey, said: "This product has been designed to help customers save for their future in a tax efficient manner at great rates."

"This compelling product combination pays eight per cent on instant access tax-free savings and offers customers the potential for higher returns through investing in the stock market, whilst guaranteeing their capital and a minimum return," he added.
