Motorbiking 'supergrans' urged to purchase vehicle insurance

The call from AA Insurance comes as its research shows that older motorcyclists are getting into the groove, with more than 20 per cent of all female motor bikers being of retirement age.
AA Insurance has also found that motor biking longevity is becoming increasingly likely, with the oldest female motorcyclist in the UK alleged to be 80.
However, motorcycling across all age ranges appears to be increasing, with AA figures showing that the proportion of young people between the ages of 17 and 20 taking out motorcycle insurance over the last five years has increased by two fifths.
Kate Scammell, head of AA Motorcycle Insurance, says: "We are definitely seeing more silver surfers seeking the freedom of the road on two wheels. Young people are becoming more interested in motorbikes as well, perhaps spurred on by their grandparents.
"AA Insurance last year re-launched its motorcycle cover and it clearly appeals to everyone, proving that no matter what age you are, you really are only as old as you feel," she added.
