Co-operative Bank: Green mortgages set to be 'the norm'

The Co-Operative Bank has announced that it will be rolling out an extended series of green mortgage solutions in the near future.

With eco-friendly possibilities being open on all Co-operative mortgages, the group has announced it will be developing "innovative solutions" to encourage homeowners to reduce their CO2 emissions.

"We are convinced that green mortgages will be the most common form of home loan in the future and that is why we are working on several features that will make our range even more eco-friendly," said chief executive of the bank, David Anderson.

He said that working alongside other products from the group, such as Co-operative Bank motor insurance and ethically screened funds, the group could help customers reduce their carbon footprint.

For each Co-operative mortgage sold, the group makes a donation to an organisation combating climate change.
