Co-operative Insurance calls on drivers to cut emissions

Co-operative Insurance has championed its eco insurance product in order to assist British motorists in reducing their CO2 emissions.

To help promote environmentally friendly measures, Co-operative Insurance's eco insurance package will involve the group offsetting 20 per cent of each consumer's emissions by investing in projects such as reforestation and renewable energy sources.

A ten per cent discount will also be available for cars in tax band A – those vehicles which emit less than 100g of CO2 per kilometre.

The Co-operative insurance eco insurance package also involves the use of an eco-friendly repair network, with used oil and car bumpers being recycled.

Believing that everyone can make a small difference, David Neave, director of general insurance at Co-operative Insurance, said the "unique eco insurance product allows drivers to do this by offseting some of the damage that their car’s CO2 emissions contribute to the environment at no extra cost to themselves".

The news follows the announcement that the group will be sponsoring the 'Sexy Green Car Show' at the Eden Project from today until April 15th.
